Relax on the Ocean Front in St. Barths

A paradise on Earth awaits every visitor to St. Barths, a beautiful island in the Caribbean where you can relax on a lounge chair, soak up the sun, listen to the waves crash against the beach, and sip a cold drink.

Arguably the most important part of any trip to the island is finding the right place to stay. The island offers a wide range of hotels to choose from, but Andrew Rivkin has a few favourites that he looks forward to staying at whenever he visits.

The Hotel Isle de France sits like luxury on the ocean front, with 37 rooms, bungalows suites and villas. Every room is individually decorated with vintage French fabrics and sheer linens in pale natural tones complement the indigenous colors of St Barths. The hotel is located on the gorgeous beach of Flamands Bay, and features beautiful gardens and rooms of all types for visitors. The hotel also features a spa, gym, and a freshwater pool for guests.

Fine dining on the water at Isle de France was a memorable moment for Andrew

Another great place to stay while on the island is the beautiful Eden Rock. It’s an imaginatively sited private house built more than 60 years ago by Rémy de Haenen – a celebrated local adventurer. It has continually evolved and is now world class family owned hotel with wonderful restaurants and clubs with three distinct creative elements of art, music, and cuisine. Big beach houses are great for going with a group of friends, private garden cottages are available for couples, and contemporary beach suites are perfectly situated on the waterfront. There is both entertainment and privacy, and Andrew loves returning because of the atmosphere and location.

Still, there is an ideal spot for luxury in Le Sereno, a hotel that Rivkin has been lucky enough to stay at. Designed by famed Parisian designer Christian Liaigre, it’s the much anticipated reincarnation of the iconic Sereno Beach Hotel. As reinvented by Liaigre, Le Sereno is an intimate, elegant sanctuary. A beachfront gem with 37 exquisitely furnished suite and villas. It’s located on the east end of the island along 180 meters of beach on picturesque Grand Cul-de-Sac, a turquoise cove protected from the ocean waves by a coral reef. The site was noted by The Travel Channel as “one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.”

The view from Le Sereno is one of the main reasons Andrew Rivkin enjoyed his visit

An impeccably-trained, around-the-clock staff prides itself on anticipating each guest’s every whim, with an array of amenities including a spa and freshwater pool. Liaigre’s modern and elegant custom furnishings for each room are complemented with signature robes and linens especially made for Le Sereno by D. Porthault, Ex Voto Paris amenities, twice-daily housekeeping service, wireless internet, cordless two-line phones, Plasma TV’s , as well as personal IPods and IPod docking stations. Guests also enjoy complimentary limo service to and from the airport.

Le Sereno is like St. Barth’s itself, an improbable mélange of style and serenity – a magical contradiction of luxury and simplicity. Andrew and guests will love the ability to escape from the world by sitting on the beach and feeling the warm ocean air, while still not being completing removed from society with state of the art electronics in the suite. It has everything one needs to have a great trip, and features the best of St. Barths.
